Piotr Węgrzyn received his MSc in Photonics degree, completed with top results, from collaboration of Universidad Politecnica de Catalunya, Universidad Autonoma de Barcelona, Universidad de Barcelona and ICFO in 2018. With support of prestigious and highly competitive grant ICFO Summer Fellowship Piotr prepared his thesis project ,in Medical Optics group at ICFO lead by prof. Turgut Turduran, focus on developing new generation of photoplethysmographic system for application in Neonatal Intensive Care Units.
During his B.S and MSc studies at University of Warsaw Piotr took many leadership challenges - served as President of local OSA-SPIE-EPS-IEEE Student Chapter, member of organising committee for OSA Siegman International Summer School on Lasers 2020 and initiated numerous activities focused on outreach and attracting students to optics and photonics.
Piotr’s scientific interests span over fields of medical photonics and translational research. In POB he is involved in research on spatio-temporal phase modulation in full field source swept optical coherence tomography. The projects aims at developing new techniques which could enhance possibilities of the OCT.
