Lab visit to Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology
Mounika Rapolu participated in the lab visit to the BIOMEDICAL PHOTONIC IMAGING LAB headed by Professor Wang-Yuhl (William) Oh at Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology. The Institute is involved in learning the techniques for in-vivo mouse brain surgery protocol to achieve high-quality cranial window and imaging with contrast agent intralipid with 1300 nm optical coherence microscopy(OCM).
CREATE lectures series: Dr. Egidijus Auksorius
On the 19 – 20 October, 2017 Dr. Egidijus Auksorius, from the Institut Langevin, Paris, France came to IPC. Dr. Egidijus Auksorius delivered an open for all IPC researchers (incl. PhD students) lecture: “Full-field optical coherence tomography: from micro to macro imaging”. During this seminar Dr. Auksorius introduced several different imaging techniques, beginning with Stimulated emission depletion (STED) microscopy, the Fluorescence Lifetime Imaging (FLIM), which was joined with STED in the experimental system, and then focusing on Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) and Structured Illumination Microscopy (SIM).
CREATE lectures series: Prof. Pavel Jungwirth
On the 20 – 21 Oct., 2016 Professor Pavel Jungwirth from the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry of the Czech Academy of Sciences came to IPC. On the first day Professor Jungwirth delivered an open for all IPC researchers (incl. PhD students) lecture: “Exploring Hydrated Electrons in Non-Conventional and Conventional Ways: From Alkali Metal Explosions to Non-Explosive Ways”. The lecture was aimed at stimulating creativity and curiosity of the IPC society as regards to selected research topics and drawing inspiration for research from everyday life.
CREATE 3rd SCIENTIFIC SYMPOSIUM
On February 24, 2021, the 3rd CREATE Scientific Symposium entitled “Physical Chemistry in biological systems – breaking barriers: Workshop on Advances in eye research” was organized. Due to the pandemic, the symposium was held online via the Microsoft Teams platform.
Innovation Source: VSParticle: spin-off company of the Technical University Delft – Production of nanoparticle
The second open lecture under a series of “Innovation source” was held on the 28th March, 2017 at the Institute of Physical Chemistry PAS (IPC). Vincent Laban was invited to the Institute by the CREATE Project Coordinator, professor Robert Holyst.
Visit of Dawid Borycki to the University of California
The aim of this visit was to perform collaborative experiments with interferometric Near Infrared Spectroscopy (iNIRS) to quantify optical properties of turbid media. During this visit, the novel correlation gating approach was utilized to post-process the captured data in order to derive optical properties: group index, scattering and absorption coefficients, scattering anisotropy and reduced scattering coefficient.
