Laser Technology Symposium 2018

The purpose of the trip was to participate in “Laser Technology Symposium 2018” conference. The conference was devoted to the latest results in laser physics and technology developments, as well as to lasers’ applications: in spectroscopy, medicine, military and scientific uses. Jakub Bogusławski  presented a talk entitled “Active mode-locking using graphene modulators”. During the presentation he discussed differences between passive and active mode-locking, the design of graphene modulators, principle of operation and detailed characterization. The application of the modulator to actively mode-lock a fiber laser was also presented. The talk was awarded first prize in the competition for the best conference presentation.
