Lab visit to the Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne

Krzysztof Bielec participated in a research visit at the group of Professor Pablo Rivera-Fuentes. His visit was a continuation of his early 2020 lab visit canceled due to the COVID-19. The main goal of the project was to combine advantages of single-molecular localization and observation of real-time interaction of non-covalent complexes (e.g. protein-protein interactions, DNA hybridization, etc.). During the three months period, Krzysztof was investigating various pre-synthesized compounds and applying them as the fluorescent tags to various biochemical constructs. The obtained compounds were then tested in-vitro in order to select an appropriate algorithm for analyzing such systems. In the future, these studies will provide a deeper understanding of the biochemistry of the cell. The internship was a great scientific experience, accompanied by the great atmosphere of Professor Riviera Fuentes' research group.
